Trenton Parking Garages Are Going GREEN

On November 21, 2007 Nexus Properties received approval from the BPU, office of Clean Energy to move forward with the installation of a 200.6/kw (each) solar project. These solar fields will be installed on the rooftops of the Clinton Commons and Station Plaza Park & Ride structured parking decks which flank the NJ Transit train station in Trenton. The field array will consist of (662) individual solar panels on each deck, attached to a structural steel canopy above the parking areas.
The output of the operational solar field is anticipated to reduce the electric consumption on an annual basis by 467,500/kwh combined and on many days will be returning power to the PSE&G grid. As part of Nexus Properties foresight, we have included several docking stations under the solar grid for electric vehicles. This will allow patrons that utilize this form of renewable energy to have their vehicles recharged by the power of the sun while they take mass transit to and from their place of work.
Both projects have been awarded to Premier Power of California with a satellite office in New Jersey. Premier has many years of experience in completing similar projects. The project will utilize solar panels manufactured by “Sunpower” the industry leader in this technology.
Nexus is responding to the increased attention cities and the state are giving to improving sustainability and the reduction of carbon emissions. Nexus is looking at new, creative ways to incorporate green products, sustainable technologies and energy efficiencies into commercial buildings and now – parking facilities.
